15 Times I Feel Single AF

I’ve been single for probably 1938259876982 days (too many to even count) and most of the time, I’m completely fine with it. At some point, I just decided that being alone for a while works better for me and trust me, I’m really good at it. But there are always some moments, some annoying situations, where I wouldn’t mind having someone by my side to share it with or to lean on. Sure, I have family and friends but it’s just not the same. Currently, I’m at a point where I’m kinda open to meeting someone but I’m sure that I need a miracle for that to happen. I’m super picky, and difficult, and probably have been single for waaaayyy too long. Anyway, here is a list with moments where it would be nice to have someone by my side.

So single it hurts

01. On Christmas
Because it’s the most wonderful time of the year and I find snow and cozy nights romantic, even though I don’t care too much about romantic stuff. And I would totally make a bomb advent calendar but not everyone deserves one. And yeah, I would get another present. Haha.

02. On New Years
On this day, I always tend do be by myself and just hide out in bed. It started when I just seemed to have one bad year after another and I just stuck to it. The fact that most of my friends always spend this day with their significant other doesn’t help either. So usually, I do movies and junk food and just get it over with.

03. On Valentine’s day
I don’t think I need to explain this to you. The good thing is that it’s one day after my birthday, so it’s not that bad.

04. When I get invited to wedding, parties etc. and everyone is bringing a +1 but me
This is me every single time. As soon as invites are out, people are like “can I bring someone?” and I’m just sitting here feeling super single. You know those wedding photos with the frame and all? I need to stand in it alone. FUN! And not to forget, the constant talk about babies and building houses etc. And all I can contribute is: Yeah, I’m single, currently unemployed and I’m married to my bed and Netflix.

05. When there’s an engagement, wedding or birth on my Facebook timeline, EVERYDAY
No, I don’t want to get engaged, or married, or have a child, but it’s still super annoying and reminds me of the fact that even if I wanted any of it, it’s not happening.

06. When I never have someone to go on holiday with
This really annoys me. Yeah sure, I could travel by myself but sometimes, I’m just not feeling it. And yeah, I have friends, although most of them do this with their partner, but travelling can’t be done with everyone.

07. On rainy, lazy Sunday’s when I just feel like curling up in bed with someone
Sometimes, it would just be nice.

08. Everytime people ask me about my love life
Why do people even do that??? Like seriously, it’s none of your goddamn business. And if we were actual friends, you’d probably know if there was someone or not. I would never just walk up to people and ask them that.

09. Everytime they do that half-laughing cause they know I’m single AF
So this usually happens when friends, who I haven’t seen or talked to in a while, ask me the same damn thing, but kinda don’t expect me to have an answer, anyway. Like sorry, I don’t see why it’s funny and I don’t need that pity look because unlike most of you guys, I rock being single.

10. When I cook and have food for days
Sure, it’s nice not to have to cook the next day but it would also be nice to share a meal, once in a while.

11. When nobody is there to take a cute picture of me
Sometimes, an awkwardly angled selfie just doesn’t do it. And when I’m somewhere looking super cute, I need my Insta followers to see that. You’ll probably find a nice stranger to take one but we all know that what we need, is someone who takes at least 50 pictures and endures all your commands. You better get it right, boo.

12. When I had a really, really bad day
Because sometimes, family and friends just don’t do it. You want someone to wrap their arms around you and make you feel safe. The next day, you’ll be all boss-lady again.

13. When I have amazing news
Because hello? I want to share it with the whole world, of course. And it would be nice for the first phone call not to always be my mom.

14. When you’re lying, cheating and annoying exes have super happy relationships
First things first, I wouldn’t take back any of them, even for a million bucks. But sometimes, I just think that those douchebags don’t deserve to be happy because I only know them at their worst. Yes, some hard feeling will always come through, here and there. (On a side note: The moment you’re told that one of them has been treated the same way he treated you, you really have to fight the urge no to dance all around your room. Hoorayyy for karma.)

15. On days when the weather is nice
People always give me crap for not leaving the house. What the actual hell am I supposed to do out there? I live in a village with NOTHING to do and no, I’m not going for a walk by myself. I don’t even have a dog. And well, if you people actually had more time for your friends, I wouldn’t sit around the house so often. HA!

This is such a great, honest post. I know what you mean, but what I think is worse is when people settle for someone whos not perfect to have that. You are rocking it! P.S. unless your village is super creepy, a walk alone can be quite nice. With a camera! xx

  6. Oh god, I’ve been single for years now and on New Years and Valentine’s Day it’s the absolute worst! Netflix marathon with snacks for one, that’s my plan.

  7. Totally feeling this! And I HATE being asked repeatedly if there’s anyone nice on the horizon – like I’d ever ask anyone with a partner if the end of their relationship was on the horizon!! How about mind your own business!! Rant over, sorry! (Love your blog x)

    • Haha, I love a good rant. I don’t mind at all. :D I absolutely agree with you, people should just stop asking stupid questions. But it will always be weird for most people that being single can be a choice. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. <3

In love with this post! I know exactly how you feel, fed up of being asked if I have a boyfriend, if I’m talking to anyone. I’m single and I like it.

  11. I can’t believe how much I relate to this post – genuinely. I went to a friend’s wedding last month alone and it was… nope. I made it through the ceremony and about 5 minutes of the reception before I had to get gone. And today it’s raining and freezing and all I want to do is cuddle and yep.

    • Yes, even people who are fabulous at being single hate these situations. You are not alone! Weddings are especially annoying and I think people actually feel sorry for you when you show up alone. Like helloooo??? I’m single not dying! And yes, today would’ve been a great cuddle day but tomorrow I would probably wanna be alone again and that’s why I’m single. Haha, I’m ridiculous.

  12. Bless you, my best friend is like this but I always think ‘me time’ is the best time you can have! Sure, it’s lovely having a boyfriend but never worth rushing into something if you know it isn’t going to be perfect! Enjoy your own company and teach yourself things and I’m sure when you find the right one you’ll make a great girlfriend! xx

    • I agree, me time is THE BEST! And I definitely support your Statement. You need to be comfortable around yourself before you can be comfortable with someone else. It’s definitely something lots of people forget but they usually just have major issues with being alone. I’m really glad I’m not like that because I find it exhausting. Thank you for reading! :) xx

  13. Valentine’s Day is when it’s worst for me but honestly when people ask about your love life it’s so frustrating isn’t it! It’s really nobody’s business…
