Photography: Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter

For a long time, I’ve been wanting to visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter and OH MY GOD I finally did. And what can I say, it was absolutely amazing. It was my second time in London and for a while, I thought I wouldn’t have the chance to go. There were no tickets left and it made me really sad. Gladly, I checked again shortly before the trip and surprise, lots of tickets there. So in case you want to go, don’t let them fool you.

I was so excited when the day finally came. Just hopping on one of the Harry Potter shuttle busses felt great. Then you arrive and immediately feel like being in another world. I mean, just the amazing statues in front of the building are pretty impressive. But when you go inside, hear the music, see the characters and all, you’d wish you were in full gear with a cape, wand and all. Unfortunately, I have none of these things, but I still love Harry Potter and recommend this tour, even if you’re not a big fan. If you like movies, this tour will impress you.

So basically, you see tons of props, sets, costumes and whatever else you can think of from the Harry Potter movies. You can walk through the dining hall, take a ride on a broom and fear for your life when the dragon in Gringotts bank comes closer and closer. You can visit the Dursley home, jump on the Hogwarts Express and find your way out of the Forbidden Forest. I survived, even though I don’t do too well around spiders. The whole place is just as magical, as what you see in the movies or read in the books. And it definitely feels like experiencing the whole story from start to finish.

My brother and I went together and even though the visit was not on top of his list, he had a great time, as well. He was especially a fan of the audio guide that not only provides lots of information about what you see on the tour, you can also watch a ton of videos that go behind the scenes of all the movies. It’s definitely super interesting. We had a good time and were fascinated over and over again. I mean, it says on the website that the tour takes approximately four hours and we were there for six. I was definitely sad when it was time to leave. After a trip to the gift store, obviously. Oh, the things you can buy there. It’s very tempting. But no, I didn’t buy a wand and cape. It was hard but too expensive. Maybe someday…

I could definitely go into detail about every single setting, room, scene, but honestly, you really have to experience it for yourself. I had so much fun. And I love all the photos. Gladly, my brother took a lot and of course I had to hop in front of the green screens. I look pretty good on a broom. And in this scenery, of course, I kept my glasses on. I even made my brother get in one of the pictures with me. The only thing I didn’t do was have a butterbeer. I wanted to, but the line was so long and since I react badly to too much sugar and don’t want that to happen when I’m out having fun, I didn’t get one. The hot dogs were ok, though.

So yeah, what can I say. It was absolutely incredible and I would definitely go again. I really want to rewatch the movies, which I will do when I’m done with binging on all my TV shows. The tour gives you a totally different view, so I’m sure it will be interesting to watch them again. It’s definitely not the cheapest attraction to visit, especially if you eat there, buy a photo and visit the gift shop, but I honestly think that every penny is worth it. I love looking at all the fun photos and videos and still can’t believe all the magical things I saw. If I can find another person I can basically force to join me, I will definitely go again and maybe next time, I will have my wand and cape ready.
