1. A song from my childhood
“Colors of the Wind” from the Pocahontas movie. Of course, it had to start with something by Disney. The Soundtrack was the first CD I ever bought and I loved the movie, endlessly. I had this little recording machine, and I sang and recorded this song many, many times. The original song by Vanessa Williams is also on the soundtrack and it’s just absolutely beautiful. I still love hearing it, today.
2. A song that makes me cry
“I love the way you lie Part II” by Rihanna and Eminem. Every time I listen to it, I start to cry, most of the time. Still, it belongs to my absolute favorite songs in the world. The lyrics just touch me every time I hear it, because I can relate to them. I certainly cried both times, I heard her perform it at her concerts. The Part I version is amazing, as well, but makes me cry a little less. The whole message of both versions is just so intense (so was the video) and I just can’t help myself.
3. A song that makes me want to dance.
“Give me Everything” by Pitpull, Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer. I lose control when I hear this song. And yes, I sing the rap part, too. :D I love the beat and it’s really an awesome party song. And I’ll also say “Talk Dirty” by Jason Derulo. As soon as it comes on, I start dancing. Unfortunately, I haven’t partied to it yet, but the day will come.
4. A song that reminds me of my first big love
“Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson. Although it’s not really a love song, it was our song. I just can’t really remember why. :D I know that he gave my her album but that’s just all that comes to my mind. I could ask him but I doubt that he remembers. But as soon as the song comes on, I think of him.
5. A song that makes me hopeful
“Wake me up” by Avicii and Aloe Blacc. That was a really great summer hit and it always lightens my mood. I like the lyrics, I love Aloe’s voice and Avicii’s beats. Great combination.
6. A song on the soundtrack of my favorite movie
Well, to answer this question, I should be able to decide which movie is my favorite one. Well, I can’t because I suck at making decisions. So, I choose “Hungry Eyes” by Eric Carmen from Dirty Dancing, “Colorblind” by The Counting Crows from Cruel Intentions, “The Beauty and the Beast” by Angela Lansbury from the corresponding movie, “Supermodel” by Jill Sobule from Clueless and “I want you to want me” by Letters to Cleo from 10 Things I hate about you. So now you know my favorite movies, as well.
7. A song I love singing along to
I pretty much sing a long to every song I hear. What I love to do is find the right harmony which I’m pretty good at, even though I suck at reading music. I have a good musical ear, though.
8. The first song that comes on, when I put my music on shuffle
“Just Tonight” by The Pretty Reckless. Ok, ok, I admit it wasn’t the first song, but I wanted it here in this post because I love it. I found out about the band because I loved watching Gossip Girl. And since Taylor Momsen is the lead singer of the band, I found new music I love. The song is kind of dark and really intense and her voice is just incredible. I always sing the song, but I could never sound like her. There is an acoustic version on YouTube and Taylor just kills it.
9. A song that I cannot stand to listen to
“Get Lucky” by Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. I know, everybody loves it but I just don’t. I find it absolutely boring and I still don’t understand, why it got all these Grammy’s. It’s LAME!
10. A song that I have danced to with my best friend
Last year, I pretty much forced her to go partying with me on carnival. Well, we went out for 2,5 hours. We were so caught up in fun at my place that we left at midnight and when we reached the party, I started to feel sick. Still, we had fun and danced our butts off. “I like to move it” by Real to Real definitely got us moving. It’s just an awesome 90s song. I definitely share a lot of memories with her and “Lady Marmelade” by Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim, Maya and Pink. In Junior High, we danced to it in school. We performed it for PE and music to get some good grades. We were a group of four and we used chairs. For music, we even jumped into full prostitute-gear. :D Well, I could name a lot of songs that I connect with my bff, since we’ve known each other for what feels like forever.
11. A song that reminds me of great times.
“Dirrrty” by Christina Aguilera brings back the party memories. I loooved this song so much and it definitely made me dance on a couple of tables and bars. We also performed a dance at the junior high graduation ceremony, in front of everyone. Of course, we didn’t wear much. But with 16, we couldn’t care less. And yes, it did include grinding on each other.
12. A song that I sang for somebody
I could definitely name several because I love to sing and you can definitely surprise people with it and make them happy. When my uncle and my aunt got married, I surprised them with singing “Hallelujah” by Alexandra Burke and “Make you feel my love” by Adele. Last year, I sang “Right here waiting” by Richard Marx at someone else’s wedding. I sang several times for my mom and with the school choir, band etc. The most fun were the rock songs with the rock band at prom. “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, “Self Esteem” by The Offspring or “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana were definitely a lot of fun to perform on stage. Barefoot!
13. A song that reminds me of a certain situation
“Insane in the Brain” by Cypress Hill. So, there was this guy I saw and that I wanted to meet. So my friends and I stalked him for a couple of months. Nothing too drastic and we didn’t get to see much of him. Anyway, the night came and we met. YAY! Even though he turned out to be a complete douche after that night, we had a lot of fun but that didn’t last too long. Well, when he bought me a drink and we sat down to chat a little, this song came on and I always think of that fun night out, when the song comes on.
14. My favorite song
“9 Crimes” by Damien Rice. It’s beautiful and touching and I don’t know anyone who doesn’t agree with me. I taught myself to play the song on the piano, although I probably have to re-learn it by now. There are helpful videos on YouTube for that. So I love listening to it, I love singing it and I love playing it, even though I’m definitely not a pro.
15. A song by my favorite band
Well, I don’t really have a favorite band, so I’ll choose from my all-time favorite bands, since I was a kid. “Everybody” by The Backstreet Boys and “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls. It doesn’t get better than that. I was a huuuge fan and my room was plastered with posters. I still love to listen to their music and I can’t wait to finally see the Backstreet Boys live on stage in March.
You forgot “Time of my life” from your favourite movie 😊
