We are three months into the new year and I thought it was time to share some of my favorite articles that I’ve read, so far. I went through my Twitter Feed, because I always share the links on Twitter, and put together a variety of articles that might be of interest to you.
Relationships/Love/Dating
♥ #SingleGirlProblems: The 17 Reasons I’m An Undateable Girl
Since I’ve been a full-time single girl for many years now, I of course loved this list a lot. A big part of me pretty much chose to be single which in itself is something that makes me undatebale. Not everything in this article fits my attitude but most of it does. I definitely rather stay in, my tolerance for bullsh*t is so low that I can’t even see it anymore, and I’m not even gonna get started on my trust issues.
♥ 11 Things Boyfriends Just Don’t Understand
More reasons why I don’t have one. I just can’t deal with all of these things.
♥ 13 Things Not to Say to the Guy You’re Dating
Honestly, if a guy can’t handle it, he’s not my kind of guy. I can’t sugar-coat everything. If I need time for myself, deal with it and be happy that you get a free pass to spend some time with your buddies. You can also tell me if I gained weight without me leaving you. Yes, these girls do exist.
♥ How We Write About Love
“Writing about love can be similar to falling in love in that we must be as vulnerable on the page as we are in person when revealing ourselves to someone we hope will love us back.” I find this article highly interesting because I like to write about love and relationships, myself. I definitely found myself in what is described.
♥ 17 Things You Should Know Before Dating a Confident Girl
WORD! Unfortunately, not many men can handle it and so I’m single!
♥ Warum Frauen keine netten Männer lieben
This is a German article about why women don’t love nice men. As sad as it is, there is a lot of truth in there and unfortunately, I am one of these women. Which is exactly the reason why I am single. If I try with a guy, I end up getting hurt, so I just don’t even try anymore, since I know that my taste is bad and it’s just a never-ending story.
♥ This Is How We Date Now
The internet is totally ruining us!
♥ 10 Times Taylor Swift Knew Everything About Love
Well, of course Tay Tay knows everything and even though she’s not popular for well-functioning relationships, there is a lot of truth in her words. She is totally my spirit animal! I see it this way: you don’t have to be in great relationships to know about love. I think that when you take a step back and are not on cloud number 9, things become much more clear.
♥ Why Readers, Scientifically, Are The Best People To Fall In Love With
This reminds me of a guy I went out with a couple of times. We never officially dated though because surprise, he was a douchebag and my co-worker. I remember us talking about books and all he had to say was that he had never read one, except for maybe in school but he couldn’t even remember. Yes, by now I know that I should’ve just left the car. It does make a huge difference but it’s not a guarantee. But I do like the thought of lying in bed with someone, both of us reading something and then talking about it, afterward. Oh, and don’t date your co-worker.
♥ 14 Things You Should Know Before Dating a Feminist
Yes, I will most definitely not accept any form of discrimination and I’m willing to put up a fight. I will probably also fight you over who pays for the movie tickets, but you’re allowed to treat me with something nice, once in a while as long it’s when you just want to do it and you’re not doing it because you screwed up. Been there, done that! And never ever try pushing me into a classic housewife position!
Growing up/Friendship
♥ 15 Best Things About Being Close With Your Mom
My mom is my best friend and we have an awesome relationship. It’s hard not talking to her on a daily basis, but I’m 27 so it’s ok to practice some distance. I am blessed to have her by my side. She supports me no matter what and never stops believing in me.
♥ 26 Signs You Were Born and Raised in Germany
Since I moved to the US to work as an au pair, a lot of these facts become so much clearer to me. Once you leave your home country, you learn a lot about yourself and about how you see your own culture. Every time I read this list, I have to laugh because a lot of it is really true. I feel caught but if these things make me a German, I don’t mind being one. Yes, I miss our bread A LOT, sometimes I feel like the word “efficiency” cannot even be found in an American dictionary, driving in Germany is just so much more fun and hell yeah can this stupid small talk EVERYWHERE be annoying as hell. I would also like to add to the list: Is overwhelmed by a happy feeling because of really long opening hours in other countries, even on Sundays.
♥ 17 Reasons Why Your High School Best Friends Will Be Your BFFs For Life
My bff and me have been friends for 16 years. We met in fifth grade and went through EVERYTHINGogether. Heartbreaks, really strange looks, different schools, family trouble etc. Everything we experienced has only made us grow stronger as friends and I can’t even find words to express how much I miss her. She is my soulmate who knows me better than anybody else.
♥ 34 Anzeichen dafür, dass du auf die 30 zugehst
This is a German article about 34 signs which show that you’re heading toward 30. For me, this will happen in three years and I really don’t have a clue where the hell that came from, all of a sudden. Anyway, I’m sure every twenty-something will find him- or herself in this list.
♥ Things you can only get away with if you’re best friends
I will love my best friend forever and ever. I wouldn’t mind to wear the same outfit as she does, which will probably never happen because we are completely different. And yes, if I ever cancelled our date because of a guy, she would probably die of a heart attack and couldn’t be mad at me, anyway.
Travel
♥ 24 of the Best Cities to Visit in Germany
I think from these beautiful cities, I’ve been only to four which is pathetic, since I’m from Germany. I should’ve traveled sooo much more when I had the chance. As soon as I’m back in Europe, it’s the first thing I’m going to change. Now I know that I don’t need a ton of money for a nice trip and if I don’t find someone who wants to join me, I can just go by myself.
♥ 52 Places to Go in 2015
I’ve been to one place on the list. :( But it’s a beautiful compilation of dreamlike destinations and I really hope that one day, I can just travel the whole world. I just need to find a way to earn a lot of money first.
♥ Map points the way for the ultimate U.S. road trip
U.S. roadtrips are always a good idea and I will hopefully experience one in 2016. A lot of people do these because the United States are just so diverse and you get to see a new landscape in every state. One of my biggest dreams is to visit all 50 States in my life. So far I’m down to maybe ten, but I’m not even sure. While I’m still living here, I will definitely try to travel the country as often as possible.
♥ 26 Real Places That Look Like They’ve Been Taken Out Of Fairy Tales
I think it’s incredible how beautiful the world is. It makes me almost forget all the problems all around and how people everywhere are destroying the planet and each other. I really want to see Neuschwanstein Castle, which is like only a five-hour drive. I could also take a peek at Munich, while I’m so far in the South of Germany. Here is what I’ll do: Munich – Neuschwanstein – Vienna. Who wants to join me?
♥ 15 Secret Things In SF You Had No Idea Existed
Since I live in this beautiful city, I can totally visit all of these cute places.
♥ These 19 Gardens Bring Fairy Tales To Life
I wish I knew where all of these are and if you can actually visit them. They look absolutely lovely and definitely fairytale-worthy. I’m not the most outdoorsy type of person, but these are too pretty not to see. I just don’t like bugs and things like that.
♥ Ryanair plans to offer flights between Europe and the US
If this will really happen, it will be one of the greatest things ever. Often, flights to the US are just sooo damn expensive and not everyone can afford it. If they would’ve been cheaper, I would’ve definitely visited this country more often and maybe would’ve found out earlier that it’s not the right country for me to live in.
Disney
♥ What It’s Really Like to Be a Disney Princess
Let’s be honest, I’ve thought about becoming a Disney Princess several times in my life. I’m just such a Disney fanatic and being Belle would be a dream come true. However, as you can imagine it’s definitely not an easy job and I learned a lot about the whole Disney industry over the last couple of years, so I kind of expected that the working conditions are not the best. This is an article from a former Belle and it’s insane what they have to endure. So I might not audition to become an official Disney Princess at Disneyland and just wear my own Belle costume whenever I feel like it.
♥ 13 Signs That Being a Disney Princess Is NOT for You
Yes, most of this is true, except for the fact that I like spontaneous singing and dancing in public and I whistle while I work. Good music makes the job so much easier and more fun.
♥ 13 Inscrutable Requirements to Be A Princesses In Disney Parks
Again, I guess it’s not for me, after all. I’m too old, not a size 10 and if some creepy dad would try to touch me, I would just punch him in the face!
♥ Those moments Disney characters perfectly summed up our quarter-life crisis
I could’ve totally written this. Yes Belle, “I want so much more than this provincial life” myself, yes Alice, I should definitely follow my own advice and Scar just made me laugh really hard because that’s exactly what’s on my mind 24/7.
♥ Some Guy Ranks the 14 Hottest Disney Princesses
Yeah, I don’t know. In reality, this ranking looks a little different. Jasmine’s beauty is much too intimidating, Belle is too smart, Mulan would totally kick your ass, which is definitely too much to handle and Nala is a freaking Lion. Yeah, guys claim they like these things but then go for the exact opposite.
♥ 15 Surprising Facts about your Fave Disney Princesses
Just some additional information if you’re really, really interested in Disney Princesses.
Childcare
♥ How to Parent Like a German
I’m not saying that German parents are the best and that they do everything right, but I’m currently working as an au pair in the States and what I see here everyday is shocking and often disturbing to a European like me. I feel sorry for these children, who often don’t even get the chance to just be kids. They are raised by au pairs, nannies etc. and are often overprotected, which in itself doesn’t make sense, since many parents are never there anyway. But when they are, they read too many nonsense articles and consult the doctor for every little thing. And I’m not even gonna start about the fact that some people put their kids into child care facilities when they are only a few weeks old. All I can do everyday is shake my head.
♥ Die hysterische Kultur des Nanny-Staats USA
A German article about how American children just never get the chance to be children. Either because of laws or crazy overthinking/protecting parents. It’s the land of the free where especially the kids are never really free. Except when they want to have a gun. That’s possible.
♥ 25 Times Kids Were Just Friggin The Worst
I love children but I definitely don’t want my own. These pictures remind me exactly of why it’s just not for me.
♥ 20 Reasons to Be Thankful You Don’t Have Children
More reasons why I don’t want children.
♥ Are successful women unsuccessful mums?
A little reading never hurt anybody but what a lot of parents have to learn is the fact that every child is different and that not everything that you read in a book will happen to/with your child in the exact same way. Stop reading, stop comparing and just spend time with your kids and get to know them. You’d be surprised how much you learn. And seriously, raising a child is a mixture of love and logic – something I truly miss here in the US.

♥ Are All Terrorists Muslims? It’s Not Even Close
In terms of topics, this article doesn’t really fit into this post, but I think it’s a very important article to read. If there is one thing I hate, it’s prejudices and Muslims have to take shit from everyone. I have wonderful Muslim friends and I can assure you that they’re not terrorists. Also, people forget all the non-Muslim people who are terrorists. Just read this article and you’ll be surprised what statistics will tell you, if you’re open to listening.
♥ 7 Signs You’re In A Serious Relationship With Netflix
I don’t think I have to comment much on this. I totally miss having cable TV, but Netflix is definitely a good alternative. I especially love the fact that you can watch a lot of old shows like “Babysitters Club” or “Saved by the Bell.” And of course, I totally binge-watched “Pretty Little Liars.” I had actual nightmares because I watched sooo many episodes all through the night and they can get pretty creepy.
♥ 21 Euphoric Experiences For People Obsessed With Office Supplies
I know it sounds crazy, but stationery lovers are good people too. I love going to these stores and so far, I’ve spent a lot of money on stickers, pens, paper etc. I have like 10 organizers and a whole box full of empty notebooks. I’m really trying to buy less of it, since I have so much that I’m probably never gonna use it all, but the Dollar spot at Target get’s me every time!
♥ Life in Rosewood vs. Real Life
Highschool life on-screen is always so much cooler than it is in real life. Honestly, back in the days I tried really hard to make reality into a highschool movie. In my head, I always lived in one. I even passed around vocabulary sheets, where I included words and phrases from “Clueless,” “10 Things I Hate About You” and more. Every girly movie I watched had an impact on the way I acted, dressed or decorated my room. And nowadays, “Pretty Little Liars” is another show with beautiful teenage girls (at least on-screen) who influence teenagers all around the world. But trust me when I tell you that no matter how hard you try, it’s never going to be like on-screen. And where does reality hide all of those cute date-worthy teachers? I’ve never seen one. I do know enough mean or creepy ones, though.
♥ The 30 Most Influential People on the Internet
We live in a century where Kim Kardashian and Barack Obama, President of the United States, make it onto the same list. Enough said. Oh, and yay for Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.
♥ 32 Movie Quotes Guaranteed To Make You Laugh Every Time
Honestly, I haven’t watched all of these movies, but every list that includes “Clueless” or “Mean Girls” quotes is my kind of list!
♥ 50 Things That Are Just Irrelevant
This cracks me up, every time. “When your teacher tells you you can’t use Spark Notes. IRRELEVANT.” Or Wikipedia. Like anyone ever cared about that. You just have to know how to use the source, without anyone being able to notice that you did. “When you’re starving even though you just had lunch. IRRELEVANT.” Story of my life! “When you’re trying to stalk someone, but their Insta is private. IRRELEVANT.” Yeah people, stop putting your stupid profiles on private. ANY profile. Stalking is the essence of my life and you’re taking away my air to breathe. I could go on commenting on every single one of these but maybe I should write a separate post for this.
♥ 18 Signs You’re a Ridiculously Punctual Person
No, I’m not always the most punctual person in the world but I’ve improved a lot. And especially when something is important, I’m there on time. For example when I have to catch a flight, I’m always early. I hate having to rush when travelling because it totally kills my mood. I love airports and I want to buy some snacks, go to the bathroom 537 times, charge my phone, read, buy more souvenirs I don’t need… It’s like a ritual. As listed, I do set several alarms and I’m on time for work. You at least have to figure out when it’s important to be on time. I will be when work starts, I’ll probably be late for a movie date or something with friends. I have friends who are much worse, though. And if I have to wait, it makes me furious. I’m such a hypocrite.
♥ 10 Things Not to Say to a Drunk Girl
Just take away my phone and don’t encourage me to text him. Unfortunately, you always end up texting him because your friends are so supportive and you just compose the message together. Boy, have I hated myself many times, the next morning.
