If someone would tell me that all I could watch for the rest of my life are Disney movies, I wouldn’t mind, at all. There are so many fantastic movies with characters and music to instantly fall in love with and it was honestly hard to decide which ones are my favorite, but there are always some movies you share an extra special bond with, for all kind of reasons. Here are the six Disney and Disney Pixar movies that are my absolute favorite. I would love to find our which ones are yours, so leave me a comment and we can exchange some Disney talk.
01. The Beauty And The Beast
This is definitely my absolute favorite Disney movie because I love the characters, the music and just the whole story. When I was pretty young, my uncle recorded a VHS for me with three movies on it and this was one of them. Even though I didn’t really hype it as much as other movies, I loved it more and more, the older I got. Belle is my favorite Princess, I have a ton of merchandize from this movie and I could watch it over and over again. I’m still waiting for the day I realize that it’s all about the inner beauty of a person when it comes to love but I’m just a little more superficial than Belle. Aside from that, I feel like I’m a lot like her. Family is important, she loves to read and is an outsider, she is over her provincial life and she makes up her own opinion on things and people.
02. Pocahontas
When Pocahontas happened, I was seven years old and completely obsessed with it. I was living in the US and Disney was everywhere. The first CD I ever bought myself was the soundtrack to this movie and I still love listening to it because I think that its one of the best ever when it comes to all the Disney soundtracks. I also had a lot of merchandize and just thinking about it makes me a little sad because I don’t have all of it, anymore. I had a backpack, lots of games, stationery and the best thing, a barking stuffed animal Percy, which I still have sitting on my armchair. And Pocahontas Barbie is also still here. I just think it’s a very beautiful movie and man, she’s such a goddess. I also love the sidekicks, a lot and I never get bored of watching it.
03. The Lion King
When this movie hit theaters, it was the first time I went to one in the States. I remember my dad taking my brother and me to the mall cinema and it was one of the first movies I ever watched in English and definitely one of the best, also because of the incredible soundtrack. And don’t even get me started on the musical version because that was the most amazing thing, I’ve ever seen. I still get goosebumps, just thinking about it. This one also got me covered in a lot of merchandize but what are you going to do when there is stuff to buy, everywhere? Seriously, the Disney game was just super strong in the US, in comparison to Germany. The coolest thing I had was a Lion King beadspread, which I still have. Unfortunately, it’s a little small for my bed now or else, I would probably use it.
04. Mulan
I think that this is one of the movies, I have no merchandize from, except for maybe one item, which is so unusual for me. I only really got into Mulan when I was a lot older than when it came out, but now, it makes me cry, everytime. I just always feel so proud of that girl and it touches me so much, when the whole country bows to her. I’m always a fan of people and characters who don’t just try to live up to everyone’s expectations and her strength and courage is just so inspiring. This is definitely a movie that especially young girls should watch.
05. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Even though I’ve pretty much always been a girly girl, Jack Skellington was one of my childhood heroes. I though he was super cool and loved the movie, especially because it combines my two favorite holidays, Christmas and Halloween. For some reason, I forgot about it throughout my teenage years and one day, it was shown on German TV and it suddenly hit me that I used to love watching it as a child. Back in the 90s and 00s, Disney wasn’t as much out there in Germany, as it was in the US. So when I lived there, it was everywhere but as soon I was living back in my home country, it was a lot less and so I wasn’t really up to date, anymore. Anyway, I love this movie and when I went to Disneyland Paris, it was my number one goal to get a picture with Jack and Sally, which I did.
06. Inside Out
This is just such a beautiful movie. I went to see it by myself and was fascinated by the idea behind it. I mean, how cool would it actually be if that was exactly how our brains work?! I actually felt like a child because I wanted to believe it, so very much. I especially loved the difference between the male and female brain system because even though it’s pretty cliché, I’m sure there is a lot of truth in there. Anyway, even though it didn’t include singing and dancing, which makes sense it’s Pixar, I definitely think it’s one of the best movies, ever made.

I am so with you on 1-4. I mean. As a kid I shouted “LIGHTS LIGHTS!” for Beast changing back to human as my mother loves to remind me. Pocahontas is the best because I had that soundtrack on cassette and listened to it every night. Lion King gets me every single time. Like, “NO MUFASA!” ;w; Mulan is a warrior and I love it. I always start an argument for why she is a Disney princess when others say she isn’t. (: I did enjoy Inside Out and Nightmare before Christmas too but they aren’t my loves. Thanks for this!
