In the last few weeks, I’ve been binge-watching FRIENDS again and it’s just one of these shows that I never get sick of. I imagine myself still watching it when I’m 80 while laughing my butt off because it’s just so perfect. Here are a few reasons why it’s one of my absolute favorite TV shows and should become yours, as well.
1. Relatable Characters
The fact that each of the characters, in all their craziness, are so super relatable makes this show extremely special. The bunch is within the same age group as I currently am, and they are struggling with the same problems as me, which makes me feel a little bit better about myself. They’re not sure what to do in terms of jobs, they’re working their way through lots of relationships and just trying to figure out how they want their lives to be. Friends shows how it is to become an adult and that it’s not always easy and pretty, but that there is always some way out of a miserable situation.
2. It’s a Timeless Show
These people have realistic problems that normal people simply can relate to and that makes them timeless, since these problems will always be present, especially when you’re in your late 20s. Even though the show is set in the late 90s and early 00s, and people in the future will probably be surprised by the lack of technology and their fashion sense, the storyline will never go out of style.
3. The Stuggle with Relationships
Dating is hard. Finding the right person to spend the rest of your life with is a super difficult task, even in a city like New York. Sure, I guess it always depends on what you’re looking for but in general, it’s not easy, despite some people telling you it is. The gang goes through a lot of ups and downs while getting adjusted to adult life and they portray all kids of different scenarios. In love, anything can happen and the show demonstrates that it’s completely ok, no matter in which form it comes.
4. Great Friendships
There is nothing more important in life than friends who will always have our back, no matter what happens. I mean, Rachel takes Monica’s baby name and they’re still friends. You can’t choose your family but you can choose who you want to be friends with. Throughout your life, there will be a lot of people who come and go but some of them will be people who stay forever and that is very important. I love that these characters all come from different backgrounds and know each other on different levels. They are siblings, highschool friends and people they just met when moving to a new city, which shows that you can find keepers all throughout your life, if you let it happen.
5. Amazing Characters
I hardly know one person who doesn’t love this show and its amazing characters. My favorite is definitely Rachel because she reminds me a lot of myself. She’s a bit clueless and girly but has a big heart and well, she’s Rachel. Also, Monica with her crazy obsessions, which I absolutely love. I mean sure, it can probably be a bit much but I wouldn’t mind living in a super clean and neat place. And having a personal chef at home doesn’t sound bad, either. Ross is my favorite guy because Joey is just too much, a great friend but too much of a player, and Chandler just isn’t my thing. And I think his nerdiness is cute (minus that one time he used the ultimate “We we’re on a break” douchebag move). Phoebe is a lovely character but personally not really my type of person. But I’m sure we all have our favorite. And of course, not to forget that the show also has amazing guest appearances by people like Brad Pitt, Danny DeVito, Julia Roberts, Tom Selleck, Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd and many more. They make the show even more special.
6. Jokes for Days
I’m one of these people who maybe find something funny but can’t really laugh out loud. I don’t know why but it just doesn’t happen very often. With this show though, I laugh a lot and no matter how bad my mood is, I can be sure that an episode of Friends will cheer me up. Even if it’s only a Twitter conversation full of Friends GIFs, it works. The jokes are great, the characters are very comedic and if they don’t make you laugh, something is wrong with you.

Friends really is one of the best shows. There are so many scenes that make me laugh. The first one that comes to my mind now is the episode with Ross’ leather pants – unforgettable. :D
Haha, that episode is amazing. I watched that one last week and had to laugh, so hard. I mean Ross wearing leather pants in general and then all the trouble in the bathroom. Imagine going out with someone and then something like that happens. :D But I guess Joey just wasn’t the best person to call. Glad you liked the post and Friends fans are just the best people! :) xx

I don’t understand how some people don’t like Friends. As well as all the points above, it’s for sure got something everyone can enjoy I personally think.
Gosh, most days I work a friends joke into at least one convo haha.
Thanks so much for reading and commenting. I’m glad you enjoyed it because it’s such a fantastic show and if people tell me it’s not, I just don’t know what to say. I mean, how could you not?! :D xx
Ahh, I haven’t watched Friends in ages! I love it though. I’ve seen all 10 seasons many times and when the OH and I started going out, I had him watch it all with me too! He was kind of shocked that I new pretty much every title of the episodes and we’d have a game of watching the episode and then I’d guess the title haha! We’re lame like that!
I think I might have to start watching it some more! I wonder if it’s still on Netflix! I’m off to look, thanks for reminding me that this gem still exists!
Awww, you two sound cute. I hope he enjoyed the show, though because it’s fantastic. I have all 10 seasons on DVD and could watch them all day, everyday. I’m glad that I reminded you of watching it again cause you definitely should. :) Thanks so much for reading and commenting. xx
I love Friends too!!!!
“Smelly cat, smelly cat! what are they feeding you?”
I love when they turned that song into a jingle with video and all and Pheobe thought it was her awesome voice singing on TV. :D Such an ironic song!

Hahah :D yes
I loved this post! Friends is probably my all time favourite programme and you’ve just reminded me why. I agreed with every single point apart from I really love Chandler. I’m not sure which girl I’m most like, I think I am similar to all of them in some ways which like you said is why they are such relatable characters!
Thank youuu!!! :) I know that a lot of people love Chandler and that’s the great thing about this show, everyone finds someone to love. This show rules!!! :) xx
I love Friends! I never even watched it until about a year or so ago, and now I just keep re-watching it! I can’t choose a proper favourite! I love Monica, as I have so many similarities with her! (Love food, love things being clean), and I love Joey cause hes hilarious!
Favourite episode would be when Ross said Rachel at his wedding! I ship those two so hard!
Yes, I loved when he said Rachel, too. I mean, it’s kinda terrible but we just all want Ross and Rachel to be together, right? :) I’m glad you doscovered the show because I really think everyone should’ve watched it at least once. I’ll be watching it forever. :) xx
