World Book Day

Today is the World Book Day, here in Germany. I think it is a great day and a great campaign to support reading. Unfortunately, reading is definitely not the main activity of our current and future generation/s. I think it’s really sad. I grew up with books and I always loved to read. It is a great way to escape reality for some time and I enjoy it, very much. If I do, one day, end up having kids, I will definitely make sure to make them love books. At least I will try. Read to them when they are little and buy them great products of fantasy when they are older. Reading promotes imagination and every child should have a healthy amount of it.

I have so many books, I sometimes don’t know which ones I have read and which ones I still have to read. Therefore, I marked them all with little stickers. And I have lists…of course I have lists. :D And I sniff books. There, I said it. I just looove the smell of new books and of old ones and of all of them. :) Furthermore, I dream of having my own library, one day. Like the one that the Beast gives to Belle – best tv-moment ever! I would have married him right away. A library is sooo sexy! I pretty much read everything except for thrillers and once, I read a good book, I can’t stop. It’s unbelievable that I once dated a guy that actually told me that he has never read a book in his life. What the hell was I thinking?! I think reading is sexy and the next time a guy says something like that, I will run!

Some of my favorites:

  • Harry Potter
  • The Help
  • 50 Shades of Grey
  • Bridget Jones
  • The Importance of Being Earnest
  • Mondscheintarif
  • Wuthering Heights
  • The Clique Series
  • Pygmalion
  • Water for Elephant
  • The Princess Diaries
  • Desert Flower
  • The Last Song
  • MAUS
  • One Day
  • The Blind Side
  • Everything by Nicholas Sparks, Ildikó von Kürthy, Lisi Harrison, Meg Cabot, Oscar Wilde, Lauren Conrad etc.
  • And many more…

READ AND LOVE IT!

PS: I want a boy who takes me on dates to the bookstore and buys me books instead of roses.

PPS: Book lovers never go to bed alone.

January 3rd 2010

I’m sitting here missing you

Even though I shouldn’t

You should have told me how you feel

But obviously you couldn’t

Instead you hurt me and leave me behind

I just wanna know what’s on your mind

Look at me and talk to me

The truth in your eyes I want to see

You made me smile after a bad day

You always knew the right things to say

You didn’t expect this to happen, neither did I

But is that a reason to go ahead and lie?

Photography: Mainz

I went to University in the beautiful city of Mainz. I didn’t spend too much time here, even though I lived there part-time, at least during the semester, but I know that it does have some pretty places. I should have probably explored more of the city, but I just never really warmed up to it. When people asked me where something is, I was often not able to answer it. I know, it’s kind of sad, since I lived there for almost five years, but that’s just how it is when you’re a couch-potato like me.

you…

They say there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I would trade it all for just one moment alone with you.
