Au Pair – I’ve worked as an au pair in San Francisco for a year and it was a roller coaster ride of emotions but a good experience. I must say, spending time with my little girl was very special and I will never forget any of it. And of course, all the travelling I did was awesome.
Blogging – I guess that one was obvious, since you’re reading this on my blog. I started more than three years ago and it’s very important to me. It’s a great feeling to have other people read my posts and to get positive feedback but I would still do it, even if nobody would care. I’ve always needed writing to deal with things and on my blog, I can just write about whatever I want.
Chocolate – Oh the addiction is real. I really wish I wasn’t that much into it, but I just am. Nutella on a croissant, pudding and anything from Kinder or Milka is definitely good with me. It’s my favorite kind of guilty pleasure, for sure.
Disney – This is definitely one of the most important things in my life. I grew up with Disney and until today, it has been a huge obsession. Most of my favorite movies are Disney, I collect everything from DVD’s to stuffed animals and I really hope that I will go to Disneyland again, soon. Until then, I love living in my own little Disneyworld.
Education – I added this to my ABC because I have a Master’s degree and I’m damn proud of it. Currently, it’s not getting me very far but I’m sure that something will come up, eventually. I would still do it all over again. Those five years proved to me that I can do it and that I am not as stupid as many people thought I was. Trust me when I tell you that hardly anyone thought I had it in me to march through University like a champ but I did. Go me!
Food – Of course I just had to include food because one of my favorite things to do is eat. To be honest, it’s a love-hate relationship because my body often doesn’t like food, too much and I should definitely eat a lot less unhealthy stuff than I am doing, right now. I’m definitely a huge fan of Italian and Asian food because Pizza and Pad Thai are some of the greatest dishes ever invented.
Godmother – Five years ago, my cousin was born and my uncle and aunt asked me to become his godmother. Before they did that, I literally told my mother that I would be super mad if they pick her because she’s too old and I just really wanted to become his godmother. I did and I love that little guy. We’re super close and people even think he’s my son because of the connection we have. Our sleepovers are super great, he always beats me at Mario Cart and when I’m with him, I can just be a kid again.
Humor – It’s the one thing a person needs in order for me to like him and also for them to like me. I can be a very ironic and sarcastic person and it’s hard for me to deal with people who don’t get it. I admit, I have some friends who don’t quite get it, which definitely makes me roll my eyes, but if you’ve known someone forever, you live with it. I’m also not a fan of people who take themselves too seriously. So yeah, humor is super important.
Instagram – I actually included this because p for photography was already taken and I absolutely love exploring the world through my camera. Instagram actually frustrates me because I feel like it’s often not about quality or maybe it’s just me. Or people don’t like my photography, although that is one thing I’ve never been told before and trust me, I’ve heard everything negative about me. So anyway, FOLLOW ME!
Journalist – This has been my dream job forever and I really can’t see myself doing anything else. I just don’t want a job where I do the same things, every single day because It’s just not me. I want to meet lots of different people, write about all kinds of topics and combine what I love to do most, writing and taking photos. I’m sure that this is the right job for me, I’m just struggling to get there but working on it. The job market is insane.
Kid at heart – I always try to keep a little peace of childhood in me because I really don’t like people who take themselves too seriously. Yes, I am 28 and obsessed with Disney, unicorns and everything girly. Disneyland is a beloved travel destination, I always have to take a ride on merry-go-rounds and occasionally, I read a book for teenagers and I’m not afraid to admit it.
Lists – Yes, I am a compulsive lister and I love it. Whenever I have things to do, I start by putting together a list because nothing gives me more satisfaction that ticking something off. I also have lists for all kinds of other things like books I’ve read, movies I’ve watched in a year and whatever else you can list. And to show you that I’m really obsessed with lists, I’ll tell you that I have to write my check marks in pink.
Music – Music has always been super important to me. I bought my first CD when I was six years old and I still buy physical copies. I also love to sing, not only in the shower, and I often miss actually doing in a choir or band. That was pretty fun back in school. I also play a little piano but I was one of these kids who just wasn’t ambitious enough to really learn an instrument and today, I regret it. Yeah, I could start now but oh well. Anyway, music makes my life go round and I couldn’t live without it.
Nineties Babe – I was born in 1988 so my entire childhood was during the awesome 90s and I wouldn’t want to change it for anything in the world. I actually feel sorry for all the kids that couldn’t experience this great era because we had the best toys, the coolest clothes and the most awesome music. I’m really attached to everything that I still have from back then and whenever a cool 90s song comes on, you can see me go nuts.
Open minded – I think that this is one of the most important character trades a person can have. If people had a little more of this, the world would be a much better place. Everyone is always so busy judging others for ridiculous reasons, just because they don’t fit into their worldview. I find it hard to be around people like this and I’m often the one to just lose it and tell people that they’re wrong. Trust me when I tell you that it’s not always easy to sit at one of our family gatherings without yelling at somebody for being stuck in the middle ages.
Pet-peeves – Trust me, I have a ton. There are so many little things that drive me insane like people chewing their gum with an open mouth or when toilet seats are not closed. The list is long and naming all of them would be enough to fill a post.
Questions and Quizzes – Words with Q are definitely not easy to find so I chose these. I actually love answering questions because let’s be honest, I like talking and writing about myself. Always have, always will. And I love crossword puzzles. They count as quizzes, right? And pop quizzes, or game shows. Yeah, I’m nerdy like that.
Rebel – This is what I’ve pretty much always been. If people like something, I usually don’t. When people tell me what to do, I mostly do the opposite. I was never a fan of adapting in order to fit in and being myself was always on the top of my list. I admit that this hasn’t exactly made my life easy but I prefer being real. Trust me, especially my family hasn’t always been a fan of me voicing my opinion or of the choices I made, but that never stopped me from being exactly who I wanted to be.
Singlegirlproblems – Since my blog is called the Undateable’s Girl Diary, this is definitely one of my favorite things to write about. It’s become a super big part of my life and I’m totally ok with that. I love to share my experiences with others and help people realize that being single is not a bad thing and that you can live a happy life without living up to societies’ expectations.
Twitter – I signed up on Twitter in 2009, when me and my friend were bored in class, and I’ve been hooked, ever since. It’s definitely my favorite social media platform and I use it the most. Unfortunately, I spent years of not using it properly. I started with actively taking part in chats, meeting new people, promoting my blog posts etc. just this year and suddenly, people wanted to follow and I’ve met a lot of great human beings. Man, just imagine how much I could’ve achieved if only I had done it right, from the get go.
USA – I was born in Germany but the United States have always been a huge part of my life. I spent a few years of my childhood in Texas and it had a great impact on me and the choices I made. I studied American Studies, I went back to work as an Au Pair in 2014 and it has always been my 2nd home. Although I always thought I want nothing more than work and live there, it’s not on the top of my list, anymore, but I’m not ruling it out, forever. I definitely want to go back for lots of holiday’s because there is still so much I want to see.
Vacation – Yes, I could definitely use one but I can’t really afford it. I would love to travel, visit some beautiful places and definitely get out of the place I’m currently living in, but it’s just not happening. If I could, I would book a trip to Thailand, right now because it’s definitely one of my dream destinations.
World under the sea – I included this because I’m fascinated by it. In my next life, I will hopefully not be afraid of the ocean and better at biology in order to study marine biology. Deep down, that is something I would’ve loved but it was just not meant for me. I love to visit aquariums, I’ve experienced swimming with dolphins at Sixflags which was absolutely amazing and I’ve ignored my fears of the open sea and went snorkeling in Hawaii and actually saw wild dolphins, as well.
X-treme adventures – I still have skydiving and bungee jumping on my bucket list and I really hope, I’ll do these things, someday. Also cliff jumping, paragliding and whatever else you can do. So far, I’ve been ziplining in Hawaii which was a lot of fun and the adrenaline rush is just incredible.
Youth – Growing up for me was pretty awesome. I spent some of my most important childhood years in the States, where I had a great time and my teenage years were pretty cool, as well. It wasn’t always easy but I made the best out of it. If you learn not to let people get to you, you have a lot more fun in life. If I could turn back time, I would either go back to being six, moving to America, or sixteen, having the absolute time of my life with my friends. Life back then was just so much easier.
Zero – clues what word to put in here but I’m sure that the other 25 letters already gave you enough information, so it’s ok.
