50+ Thoughts I Had While Watching Clueless

Clueless Fan ArtLast night, we had a Girl Gang movie night where we watched Clueless and it was lots of fun. We basically get together on Twitter, use the hashtag #GGMovieNight, press play and enjoy. Of course there was a lot of gif action involved which makes every online conversation even better. Since I like to watch movies and write comment posts about them and I had Clueless in mind, anyway, I joined the fun and made plenty of notes. Make sure to join in, next time, it’s great.

I was 13 years old when I watched Clueless for the first time. Me and my bff were really into it and until today, we still occasionally sign cards wir Cher or Dionne, but only to each other. Only a few weeks ago, we thought about how cool it would be to get the matching plaid outfits to wear them at costume parties. I’m pretty sure that most people here in Germany wouldn’t get it but WHATEVER. (If you’re a true Clueless fan, you get this.) Anyway, this movie, especially Cher Horowitz, had a huge impact on me. For all the people who hated it, blame her for me wearing all those short skirts back in school. And yes, I also rocked plaid. I had a pink one and a blue one, and I loved wearing them. I also had one with the British Union Jack on it because I was a huge Spice Girls fan, but that is a different story. Imagine the girliest person you knew in school, double the amount of girliness and you may be close to who I was, back in the days. Cher was definitely one of my biggest role models, which makes today’s feminist inside of me cringe a little, but in the early 2000’s she was life.

So here is what I thought during the movie, which is definitely a little different from what I thought as a young girl.  If you like this post, make sure to check out my post on “How To Incorporate Clueless Quotes Into Your Everyday Life.” Back in school, I actually handed out sheets to my friends with movie quotes on them, because I wanted us all to talk like that. Trust me, I’m the OG obsessive fangirl when it comes to these things. So instead of printing handouts for you, you can find the online version on my blog.

Clueless Movie Poster01. The soundtrack is super fun.
02. Yes Cher, you’re living a super normal life. AS IF!
03. I would kill someone for a rotating closet like that.
04. The fact that she needs a computer program to match THAT outfit though…
05. “Just A Girl” is just the best song.
06. That being said, I don’t know why it’s not on the actual CD.
07. I’d love a jeep like that.
08. Although, were I live, it rains too much.
09. How does nobody realize that she just drives around without a licence?
10. Yeah, my bff and me do that handshake.
11. “Is it that time of month again?” Sexist much?!
12. Unfortunately, guys still wear their pants like that.
13. Don’t worry Cher, I’d choose Cartoons over the news, as well.
14. Yes, shopping always helps.
15. If only grades would’ve really been debatable back in school.
16. It was totally Cher’s fault that I turned into a huge girly girl.
17. Fuzzy pens forever!
18. Why don’t I have my blue and pink plaid skirts, anymore?
19. Remember when we wore tops over t-shirts?
20. “Legs crossed towards each other – that’s an unequivocal sex invite” Ummm, I guess too many guys have watched this movie.
21. A little daily workout and a book per week wouldn’t be the worst idea.
22. RIP beautiful and talented Brittany Murphy.
23. Does anyone know why Summer takes home the snowman statue?
24. It still surprises me that Cher would actually smoke weed.
25. I love how overdressed Cher is at this party. I know that feeling.
26. Imagine people actually dancing like Cher and Tai?
27. I mean, kneel on the floor while the other one walks around you?
28. Has anyone ever played suck and blow in real life?
29. Elton is such a pig.
30. That robbery scene though. Like, really?!
31. History and Literature portrayed by hot actors always helps to remember details.
32. Even at 13, I thought Cher’s tips on how to get a guys’ attention are a little weird.
33. And then, she covers herself in a see-through shirt.
34. How did Cher not see that Christian isn’t into girls?
35. I love when she falls off her bed.
36. It’s so me, although I’m usually good at hurting others, as well.
37. I think it’s so sad to see how Cher thinks that something is wrong with her cause Christian isn’t into her. Women need to stop doing that.
38. Her driving test always reminds me of mine.
39. Trust me, the reason I failed was totally a guys’ fault.
40. Where does she have her credit cards when she doesn’t carry a purse?
41. Even her pj’s are plaid.
42. The feminist in me doesn’t like how she wants to change who she is for a guy.
43. Why does Cher only hear that he calls her beautiful?
44. Josh is the only cute guy in this movie.
45. The way he expresses his feelings is so sweet.
46. I sooo want that staircase.
47. Who get’s invited to a teacher’s wedding?
48. When people throw the wedding bouquet, I always hide.
49. Is it even legal for Josh to date Cher?
50. Their age confuses me, anyway. Yeah right, they’re 15/16.

So overall, this will always be one of my favorite movies, especially because I share so many wonderful memories with it. It had a big impact on my teenage life and for that, it will always make my top 10 list. However, I do think about some scenes a little different, today, even though it’s a comedy and I know it’s supposed to be funny. It’s great how the movie supports a gay character, something that wasn’t super popular back in the 90s, and still is problematic today, although it shouldn’t be. I also think it’s fabulous that the character Cher doesn’t give in to Elton’s whole act, trying to make her think it’s her fault that he’s into her and wants more from this “friendship” than she does. It is ok to say NO to a guy and it’s not your fault if he reads the imaginative messages wrong.

I am not a fan of the fact that Cher thinks she needs to change who she is, in order to make a guy fall in love with her. I know, she also wants to change a bit for herself, but the main trigger for her sudden epiphany is a guy. Girls, he either loves you for who you are or he is not worth it. The good thing is, Josh is a good guy and I’m pretty sure he loves her for who she is. GO JOSH! Also, things like “Legs crossed towards each other – that’s an unequivocal sex invite” are phrases you should be very careful with. Yes, it’s super funny within the movie but that doesn’t mean that it’s ok in real life. This kind of thinking is a huge problem within our society and needs to stop, so please keep that in mind.

Even though from a feminist point of view, this movie isn’t actual genius, from a fan point of view, it is. I know it’s a movie and even though I watched it like a million times, it hasn’t dazed my way of thinking but do bear in mind that movies can have a huge influence on people and that this can be a dangerous thing. But enough with the bashing, it’s still super fun, it cracks me up everytime and it’s definitely a great movie, if you watch it with a little wink.

Four Fact Survey Fun Tag

Thank you so much Midnight Musings With Megs for tagging me, a while ago. I like these kind of posts because you learn a lot about people and yes, I like to share some facts about me. Also, I wasn’t motivated to do much writing didn’t have time to write something because I was busy relaxing while binge-watching Modern Family. Anyway, I know these are short answers but once in while, a quick write and read is enough. If you want to know details, always contact me and ask me anything. If you’re reading this, feel free to do the tag because I just don’t feel like tagging people, today. Not because I don’t know any lovely bloggers, but because there are so many and I don’t want to leave someone out. Also, I’m tired and a terribly lazy person.

10 Reasons Why I Love The Kardashians

Kardashian Christmas Card by David LaChapelle
Kardashian Christmas Card – Photo taken by David LaChapelle

The Kardashian-Jenner clan is one of the most famous families in the world. Some people love them, some people hate them and that’s just how it is with everything in life. Personally, I can’t help myself but love them for a whole lot of different reasons. I don’t care if you think they’re shallow, or stupid or whatever negative word you wan’t to call them, I respect them for their hard work, for their personalities and for just being true to who they are, no matter what. So if you’re not a fan or just want to hate, don’t bother reading any further, but if you are a fan like me, enjoy.

01. All the drama
This family, with all their drama, gives me life. I get super excited when there is a new episode of KUWTK to watch because then, I can learn more about what I’ve already seen in the media. These people always have something going on and it’s awesome. I mean, Blac China being engaged to Rob and pregnant with his baby? Even though I still think she developed this conspiracy theory a while ago, because hellooooo?!, I’m curious who will be sitting at this year’s Thanksgiving table. I don’t think that this can really be topped, unless one of the girls steals their mom’s boyfriend. Now that would be a story. (Please don’t because I really like Corey and Kris together.) But after a sextape, a few crazy marriages, Bruce becoming Caitlyn, Tyga and Kylie and so much more, what else could possibly happen? Knowing them, probably a lot.

02. Their incredible genes
Honestly, I don’t care if it’s make-up or plastic surgery or whatever, I am amazed by their beauty, even if they had all the help in the world. Just for the record, I don’t think they’ve got as much done as lots of people think they did. They are gorgeous, period. I mean seriously, since they all look like they do, who actually thinks there is nothing natural there? They were not cloned, after all. If the family is ever in need of money, Kris should just sell her eggs because those genes are golden.

Kardashian Sisters

03. The strong family bond
No matter what happens, and it’s a lot with this family, they stick together and I love that about them. They fight like everyone else in the world does and make up, afterward. I especially admire Khloé for always standing up for everyone and not being afraid to take a bullet. If there is a Twitter feud involving the Kardashians, you know that Khloé is right in the middle of it. Kim is great at mediating because she always stays calm, except for that one time, she hit Khloé with her purse, and Kourtney just couldn’t give a damn, anyway. This family is strong and nothing can really break them apart, even if a lot has happened in the past and probably will, in the future.

Kardashian Jenner Fight

04. Their entrepreneurship
You can hate them all you want, but you really have to admit that the way they market themselves is just ridiculously good. They make a fortune with everything they touch. I’m just surprised that Kris hasn’t found a way to make the girls form a band with an album, a tour and crazy hot music videos. Anyway, I’m sure they could collect rocks, sell them on Ebay and make a fortune with it because people are just crazy about anything they sell. Man, I wish I was Kris who get’s 10% of it all.

Khloe Kardashian

05. Their no-shame attitude
They get bashed for pretty much anything they do or say or wear but do you ever really see them care? No, because they shouldn’t. No matter if your famous or not, there will always be haters who don’t like who you are or what you do. Their success speaks for itself, so who cares about who doesn’t like them? I also love that they hide nothing and just do and say whatever they want. No matter how ridiculous, they just share it with the world and it’s what makes them authentic. It teaches people to always be true to themselves, no matter what, and trust me, I know a lot about being hated for who you are. It’s just wrong and it hurts, but when you hold your head up high and just march right through it, you end up being the bigger and better person.

Kris Jenner

06. Their social media game
People everywhere are so annoyed by them because they are literally all over the place, but honestly, get over yourselves, nobody forces you to follow them on social media. I honestly do. Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram – I stalk them. I swear, if I had an actual income right now, I would get subscriptions to all of their apps and buy Kylie’s Lip Kit, but currently, I’m just following Koko. I had Kim’s game app a while ago, but that one didn’t last. I prefer watching them as actual people, with all their videos and pictures, everywhere, and not to forget KUWTK – that show gives me life. That reminds me, I have to add Scott, everywhere. He’s hilarious.

Kim Kardashian Selfie

07. Their open-mindedness
I feel that if the Kardashians are one thing, it’s inclusive. No matter who they bring home, where they are from, they always find a way to make them feel like a part of the family. Also, witnessing Bruce becoming Caitlyn was probably one of the hardest things ever, but I feel like they handled it, very well. I’m pretty sure that whatever or whomever you throw at them, they will find a way to make it work. I mean hello, they even accepted Chris Humphreys, who was pretty much the least likeable person on that show. They still support Scott Disick, after everything that happened and the way they handled the tragic situation with Lamar was just incredible. They have big minds and big hearts and for that, they deserve some credit.

Khloe Kardashian

08. They’re hilarious
I mean, duh. I laugh pretty much everytime I watch an episode of KUWTK. Even if they don’t want to be funny, they are. Remember when Kim had a total panic attack because she lost her diamond earing in the ocean? Or when she took selfies while her sister was in jail? Or when Kloé tried to make a sexy video for Lamar? Unforgettable moments. And everytime Scott dishes out, I just can’t help myself, anyway.

Kim Kardashian Scott Disick

09. Their partners in crime
The show wouldn’t be what it is without all the significant other’s brought into the mix. As mentioned above, Scott is always good for a funny reaction and despite everything negative he has done, I can’t help but sympathize with him. Of course, we all fell in love with Lamar, right away and when Kanye West married Kim Kardashian, which I still think is something I never saw coming, we were all shocked but also surprised how sweet he is with his wife and kids. All the other guys Kim dragged through it, not so much. Except for maybe that polite bodyguard from, I’m not quite sure, Australia? I liked him. Corey is a doll, Tyga, well is Tyga, but he seems to be out of the picture now, anyway, and I just can’t wait for Blac China to sit with them. I’m still gutted that Kendall hasn’t brought someone on, like maybe Harry Styles. Not that I’m a fan but it would just be something super fun to watch. Anyway, the people they date make them even more interesting.

Kourtney Kardashian

10. Their gif-game
No matter which episode you watch, you will always find scenes that are super gif-worthy because this bunch is just hilarious. You can seriously find one for pretty much every situation in life. Check out 22 Kardashian GIFs To Sum Up Your Everyday Life by my friend Gwennan from Twenty Something Meltdown and see for yourself. Thinking about, I might do one of these posts too cause it’s just so much fun to go through millions of gifs by these fabulous ladies. I’m sure Gwen wouldn’t mind to see more. Also Kim’s crying face.

My 6 Favorite Disney Movies

Disney Animation Paris

If someone would tell me that all I could watch for the rest of my life are Disney movies, I wouldn’t mind, at all. There are so many fantastic movies with characters and music to instantly fall in love with and it was honestly hard to decide which ones are my favorite, but there are always some movies you share an extra special bond with, for all kind of reasons. Here are the six Disney and Disney Pixar movies that are my absolute favorite. I would love to find our which ones are yours, so leave me a comment and we can exchange some Disney talk.

01. The Beauty And The Beast
This is definitely my absolute favorite Disney movie because I love the characters, the music and just the whole story. When I was pretty young, my uncle recorded a VHS for me with three movies on it and this was one of them. Even though I didn’t really hype it as much as other movies, I loved it more and more, the older I got. Belle is my favorite Princess, I have a ton of merchandize from this movie and I could watch it over and over again. I’m still waiting for the day I realize that it’s all about the inner beauty of a person when it comes to love but I’m just a little more superficial than Belle. Aside from that, I feel like I’m a lot like her. Family is important, she loves to read and is an outsider, she is over her provincial life and she makes up her own opinion on things and people.

02. Pocahontas
When Pocahontas happened, I was seven years old and completely obsessed with it. I was living in the US and Disney was everywhere. The first CD I ever bought myself was the soundtrack to this movie and I still love listening to it because I think that its one of the best ever when it comes to all the Disney soundtracks. I also had a lot of merchandize and just thinking about it makes me a little sad because I don’t have all of it, anymore. I had a backpack, lots of games, stationery and the best thing, a barking stuffed animal Percy, which I still have sitting on my armchair. And Pocahontas Barbie is also still here. I just think it’s a very beautiful movie and man, she’s such a goddess. I also love the sidekicks, a lot and I never get bored of watching it.

03. The Lion King
When this movie hit theaters, it was the first time I went to one in the States. I remember my dad taking my brother and me to the mall cinema and it was one of the first movies I ever watched in English and definitely one of the best, also because of the incredible soundtrack. And don’t even get me started on the musical version because that was the most amazing thing, I’ve ever seen. I still get goosebumps, just thinking about it. This one also got me covered in a lot of merchandize but what are you going to do when there is stuff to buy, everywhere? Seriously, the Disney game was just super strong in the US, in comparison to Germany. The coolest thing I had was a Lion King beadspread, which I still have. Unfortunately, it’s a little small for my bed now or else, I would probably use it.

04. Mulan
I think that this is one of the movies, I have no merchandize from, except for maybe one item, which is so unusual for me. I only really got into Mulan when I was a lot older than when it came out, but now, it makes me cry, everytime. I just always feel so proud of that girl and it touches me so much, when the whole country bows to her. I’m always a fan of people and characters who don’t just try to live up to everyone’s expectations and her strength and courage is just so inspiring. This is definitely a movie that especially young girls should watch.

05. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Even though I’ve pretty much always been a girly girl, Jack Skellington was one of my childhood heroes. I though he was super cool and loved the movie, especially because it combines my two favorite holidays, Christmas and Halloween. For some reason, I forgot about it throughout my teenage years and one day, it was shown on German TV and it suddenly hit me that I used to love watching it as a child. Back in the 90s and 00s, Disney wasn’t as much out there in Germany, as it was in the US. So when I lived there, it was everywhere but as soon I was living back in my home country, it was a lot less and so I wasn’t really up to date, anymore. Anyway, I love this movie and when I went to Disneyland Paris, it was my number one goal to get a picture with Jack and Sally, which I did.

06. Inside Out
This is just such a beautiful movie. I went to see it by myself and was fascinated by the idea behind it. I mean, how cool would it actually be if that was exactly how our brains work?! I actually felt like a child because I wanted to believe it, so very much. I especially loved the difference between the male and female brain system because even though it’s pretty cliché, I’m sure there is a lot of truth in there. Anyway, even though it didn’t include singing and dancing, which makes sense it’s Pixar, I definitely think it’s one of the best movies, ever made.

40 Thoughts I Had While Watching Spice World

Spice World MovieI honestly can’t believe that it’s been almost 20 years since Spice World was released. It makes me feel really, really old but oh well, it will always be one of my favorite movies because it’s crazy awesome. I even used to make my family watch it with me and trust me when I tell you that they were not amused. They just didn’t know what’s good for them. So, since I had nothing better to do on a Saturday night, I decided to watch the movie and share my thoughts on it. I know that a lot of you are nineties kids who love the Spice Girls, so definitely let me know what you think of it. Also, who was your favorite? I was obsessed with these girls and I still can’t let them go. I just actually went through my folder where I kept all their articles, stickers, posters etc. that I collected over many years. Anyway, they were the greatest girlband ever, I always wanted to be Baby Spice and here are my thoughts on the movie.

01. It will forever bother me that “Too Much” is pitched too high in the opening scene.
02. How were they able to walk and dance that good in those shoes?
03. They’re bus is just the coolest thing ever.
04. How the hell did they get Meat Love to play a bus driver?
05. Did anyone else ever wonder how everything fits into that bus? (As a kid, it amazed me)
06. That red lip sofa is everything.
07. It’s crazy how much the stereotypes are played out.
08. I want a runway in my room.
09. The Spice Girls were so cool, even Elton John wanted to be in the movie.
10. I never got all those metaphors the Chief made. Still don’t.
11. How can it rain inside a room?
12. Mel B was able to look into the future when she said “and then you got this ugly loser one who reminds me of my ex-boyfriend Stephen” when she talked about the fish.
13. How the hell did someone come up with all this madness?
14. They had the coolest photo shooting, ever.
15. When Clifford talks about hair in the shower, I’m like “whoa, they have showers on the bus?!”
16. What was wrong with the hair of that wannabe fashion lady talking to posh at the press event?
17. Imagine having 5 Spice Girls as godmother’s. That would be amazing.
18. I’m still disappointed that the “Come on, come on” song wasn’t on the album.
19. Same goes for that drill instructor song.
20. Sometimes, I can’t believe what they’re wearing but it was just so cool.
21. That alien story though…
22. I still know all of the dance moves from throughout the movie.
23. That blue “stain” on Emma’s white skirt annoys me, everytime.
24. Vicky can even walk perfectly across a lawn in those super high heels.
25. It’s so disgusting how that reporter creep comes out of the toilet.
26. I wonder how many lollipops Emma ate throughout filming the movie.
27. I wish there was actually a Spice Force 5 movie.
28. It annoys me how extreme posh is stereotyped as this non-funny, superficial young woman.
29. That bus has an office, bathrooms, showers, personal spaces, hang-out area for guests etc.
30. I used to be obsessed by everything that baby space owned in this movie.
31. I still want her stuffed bee animal.
32. Clifford and Deborah don’t work together, at all.
33. When I was a kid, I only understood half of what they’re saying because of their heavy accents.
34. Why would anyone bring their 9 month pregnant friend to a club?
35. Vicky is totally me driving, especially when it comes to yelling at everyone.
36. Does it get any worse that the bridge crossing scene?
37. Where the hell did the bomb come from?
38. And what the hell were they doing on the roof of the bus?
39. Even my crazy mind couldn’t make up that much craziness.
40. Man, I really want that bus to be real.
