Creative Minds Never Get Bored

Bind blown

One thing I will never ever understand is how anyone could ever get bored. There are millions of things to do, no matter if you’re an indoor or outdoor person. “I’m bored” is something I never really say, and if so, reality probably is that I’m just lazy, which sure is a difference. Or maybe I’m stuck in a boring seminar or something like that, that I can’t get out of. But even then, I usually find something to do. Basically, all I need is a pen and a piece of paper to be happy.

I’m a creative person – always have, always will. And I wouldn’t want it any other way. Because for me, it is super easy to find something to do. My head is always full of ideas, which can also be annoying, cause I constantly want to do a million things at once, but I can’t. And that frustrates and sometimes overwhelms me. And you know that feeling, when you have a million things to do, but you just do nothing, cause you don’t know where to start? That’s what often happens in my head. Sometimes, it just can’t handle it all.

I would never complain about having lots of ideas, though. I never found it hard to entertain myself. As a child, I never needed someone by side. I could be in my room for hours and just play with dolls, or read or write in my notebooks or whatever else there was to do. Stories, invisible friends or scenes for your Barbies are all results of creativity. Nothing brings me more joy than being alone and letting my creativity flow.

So when I’m not working, sleeping or out with friends, I’m mostly being creative. And yes, of course I also watch a lot of TV shows, but even that gives me new ideas. When I watch something, I have a notebook next to me to jot down thoughts. Often, I turn that into a blog post or something. I’ve done that, ever since I was a little girl. My notebooks are everything. It’s not often that I leave the house without one.  I wish, I could also write things down while driving, cause some good ideas come from that.

My mind will never allow me to be bored. It’s always full. No matter what is going on, I’ll eventually come up with something. And I love it. It makes me feel good about myself and in a way, almost never lonely. Sure, it happens, but then I just do something I love like write or put together another page in my scrapbook and when I’m done, I feel absolutely satisfied. I don’t think, I would want to exchange my creativity for any other quality in the world.

Photography: Madam Tussauds

So ok, this may not be the finest photography post, but I have so many fun pictures from my visits to Madame Tussauds that I would love to share. I know that there is hardly anything that’s more touristy, but I really always have a blast. And depending on who I’m with, I go a bit crazy. The only problem is that chances are high you’ll look pretty crappy next to all these gorgeous people. You wouldn’t believe how tiny some celebrities are. I’m still not sure, if I can believe all those measurements.

So far, I’ve been to the ones in San Francisco, London and Los Angeles and all visits were with different people. To be honest, the one in SF is my favorite because, even though it may be small, there are so many props you can include in the pictures and it’s actually not packed with people. At least it wasn’t when I was there.

I’ll just start with that one. I went with two friends when I was an au pair. We had been to the Dungeon first and roamed around Fisherman’s Wharf afterward, had some pizza somewhere in the North Beach area and I remember it being just a super fun-filled day. And you know what we found out during our visit at Madame Tussauds? They don’t add things like nipples to the wax figures. Trust me, we looked. We were pretty much alone in that thing, which was amazing. I jumped on George Clooney’s lap, rolled around on Obama’s desk and whatever else I felt like doing. No figures were hurt in the process.

But the figures I usually look forward to seeing most are admirable people like Martin Luther King Jr. or Rosa Parks. Those are people who really made a difference in the world and who I would always save a seat for at my table of people I would love to have dinner with, dead or alive.

I also went to the museum in Los Angeles, where I made my brother and his fiancée go with me. And on the street, they basically beg you to come in. Discounts included, of course. My outfit was no way near Hollywood standard, but who cares. I like having fun and never take myself too seriously. So I danced with Patrick Swayze on a log, became a Pink Lady, showed Tony Hawk some moves, danced like Beyoncé (haha, yeah right) and just had a good time.

The first Madame Tussauds I ever visited was the one in London, which I guess is the most important one. But we had to wait in line forever and the crowd was just too big. I mean, it was pure madness. You could hardly get a picture without anyone else in the picture. I went with my best friend during our amazing trip to London. And no, she didn’t go fully voluntarily, but she knows I love this stuff and it’s these little things she does for me that make me love her, even more.

At least, there was finally a pretty good looking David Beckham there. He’s such a handsome man and I’ve seen him made of wax many times, and none of those figures look good. I honestly don’t get how that is even possible. Unfortunately, Victoria was also there. Move over, Posh!

You know what I should’ve remembered from this first visit though? To put on something nice when going to Madame Tussauds. I mean, in London, I looked so touristy, San Francisco was actually ok, but don’t get me started on the LA outfit. Next time, I’m bringing a ball gown.

Things To Do On A Rainy Day

Fall is truly full of surprises when it comes to weather. At least where I live, there haven’t been many rainy days, but I’m sure they’re just waiting around the corner. So I wanted to put together a little list with all the fun things you can do, when it’s raining buckets and you just really don’t feel like leaving the house. Most of these things may seem pretty obvious, but you never know, where people get ideas from.

scrapbooking. Honestly, it’s one of the best ways to get creative. I just love filling these books with memories and it’s a pretty way to have it all in one place.

play video games. I’m not a big gamer, but a round of Super Mario on an Super Nintendo is definitely a good idea. Or whatever you like playing. That reminds me, I’ve been wanting to play Theme Hospital again, forever.

read. If only I had time to read all the books I own. But there is nothing greater than getting comfy with a good book, while listening to the sound of rain. And don’t forget a nice cup of tea.

do a puzzle. Once in a while, I just really feel the urge to put together a fun puzzle. I still have some Disney ones waiting for the right time. But I get really obsessed with it and try to finish in a day.

binge-watch your favorite TV show. I mean, so obvious, right? Although I don’t really need it to rain for this one, cause it’s my umber one activity, but I do feel less bad about it.

sort out your closet. There is no better feeling than having everything organized. You can also donate some things and sell others. And of course you’ll have plenty of room for new pieces.

a good online shopping spree. I honestly prefer this over actually stepping into a store. I can do it in my pajamas, I don’t have to wait in line, I don’t have to try on clothes and look at myself in terrible lighting and I can just order a ton and send it all back, if I don’t want it.

a chill night with friends. Hanging out together with maybe pizza and drinks is a guarantee for lots of laughter. Just sharing old memories and of course gossiping is the best.

bake some cookies. Just the smell of freshly baked goods in the house is amazing. So why not find a new recipe and get your baking on.

put in a pamper day. Take a bath, if that’s your thing, put on a facemask, paint your nails and whatever else you can do to pamper yourself. And definitely take a nap.

write. Next to watching TV shows, this is what I do most. Writing is the one thing I would give up everything else for. It’s my biggest passion and just my favorite thing to do on any day. Except for maybe sleeping.

a good cleaning. I mean, when does anyone really have time to just deep clean everything, all in a day? I can’t do it when I work, or when I have plans on the weekend, but a rainy day, where I actually find some motivation, is perfect.

a movie marathon. What better time to watch all three Hunger Games movies, or The Lord of the Rings, or maybe even Harry Potter, if you’ll take the whole 24 hours. And make sure to make yourself some microwave popcorn.

My Fall TV Schedule

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I can tell you one thing, I am absolutely addicted to watching TV shows. I just can’t get enough and don’t have a problem with enjoying 20 at once. So I am always super happy when it’s fall and the new TV schedule is back. I make a list with all the starts and get on my weekly binge. Not all of my favorites are back yet, but we’re getting there. So in case you need some inspiration, here is what I’m watching and also what I’m looking forward to. Maybe you’ll find some new ones for yourself.

01. The Big Bang Theory
Is anyone else super sad that it’s the last season? Totally gonna miss that bunch. I’m really curious who will have a child next.

02. Young Sheldon
He’s just so adorable. Also annoying as hell, but cute.

03. American Housewife
I love this woman. The only person I love even more on that show is her friend Doris.

04. Modern Family
Someone told me that a main character is supposed to die this season. I mean, what the hell??? Who on earth should that be? I don’t even want to know.

05. Chicago P.D.
I still miss Erin Lindsey, but the show will always be my favorite from the Chicagos. I feel like Jay could walk around sans shirt more often, but other than that, it’s amazing.

06. Chicago Fire
It’s not quite the same without Gabriela Dawson, but the show must go on. They should just never get rid of Kelly Severide and all is good.

07. Grey’s Anatomy
No matter how long this show goes on, I can’t imagine it ever getting boring. Maybe Meredith will finally find love again, although I absolutely salute her for being a badass woman on her own.

08. How To Get Away With Murder
This show is so crazy and captivating. I feel like the characters can get a bit annoying but Annalise Keating is the queen.

09. Will & Grace
This show always makes me laugh and is just as great as it was in the 90s. If you haven’t watched it yet, what the hell is wrong with you?!

10. Station 19
Sure, Chicago Fire is better, but it works well together with Grey’s Anatomy, so I’m watching.

11. Keeping Up With the Kardashians
The show didn’t really start in fall, but it’s still going and I can never get enough of this crazy family. My number one guilty pleasure.

12. Jersey Shore Family Vacation
The show is almost over, but still fun to watch. It’s crazy how much they’ve all changed.

13. Riverdale
It will be back this week and I can’t wait to see, what those kids have to deal with. Nothing will probably beat season one, but I’m still going to watch it.

14. Dynasty
That family is just bananas, so I’m obviously watching. And I just love Fallon Carrington.

15. Charmed
I am really curious what they’ve come up with. I didn’t do much reading prior to the start of the show, so I’ll let it surprise me. I definitely was a fan in the 90s.

16. Supergirl
I just like watching the girl of steel do her work.

17. The Connors
So how are they just gonna go on without Roseanne? I’m happy that the cast has their jobs back. Nobody should be punished for the actions of another person’s stupidity and ignorance.

18. House of Cards
I salute them for kicking Kevin Spacey off and giving Robin Wright the role as main character. I can’t wait to see you in action, Mrs. President.
